We have infused the classic waffle recipe with good old bananas and came up with this oh so delicious and quite naughty banoffles.

This a great plant based desert idea for the family. Maybe even a good vegan Christmas dinner desert recipe too!




  • 180g plain flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 40ml vegetable oil
  • 40ml orange juice
  • 260ml almond milk

Dairy Free Caramel Ingredients

  • 50g dairy free butter
  • 150ml coconut cream
  • 200g brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Coconut Cream
  • Dairy free Caramel
  • Banana
  • Dark Chocolate


  1. 1.

    Dairy Free Caramel: Melt the dairy free butter in a pan.

  2. 2.

    Pour in the salt, sugar and vanilla extract and stir them until they’re dissolved.

  3. 3.

    Add the coconut cream and stir it in to the mixture until it reaches the desired thickness (don’t over cook it, you don’t want to burn it!)

    For the waffles: Put all the waffle ingredients in a liquidiser & whizz them up into a creamy mixture.

  5. 5.

    Pour the waffle batter into a jug.

  6. 6.

    Pour the mixture into a hot, lightly oiled waffle iron & cook them for 4-6 minutes.

  7. 7.

    Take the waffles out of the iron and plate them up.

  8. 8.

    Dress the waffles with coconut cream, dairy free caramel, banana slices and dark chocolate.
